The Atlanta Alumnae Association and the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter at Emory University are teaming together to host GIRLS Academy March 2-4, 2018 at Louise Radloff Middle School in Duluth, GA. GIRLS Academy is a program of the Kappa Foundation that is modeled after our successful Leadership Academy. During a day-and-a-half retreat, middle-school girls discuss challenges they face, journal about their dreams, participate in a community service project, and are mentored by Kappa collegians.
We can tell you all the specifics and background, but check out this video to really get a feel for what GIRLS Academy means to all those involved: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy713RhH9xg
You might wonder why we’re investing in these young women. It’s because we know we’re really making a difference. And a difference to young women in our community.
At Kappa’s very first GIRLS Academy, a mom whose daughter had just attended the retreat approached us. She said simply, “GIRLS Academy has changed my daughter’s life. You have her believing that she can go to college … and now you have me believing it, too.”
